Behind the scenes of the iconic “First Kiss” photo

If you have any kind of access to media, you’ve no doubt seen the first gay kiss photo commemorating the end of the DADT era.

The fantastic blog The Image Deconstructed has a great interview with the photographer Brian Clark who snapped the photo. There’s a lot of great behind-the-scenes details, such as the fact that Brian didn’t know why this particular homecoming was going to be so important. Also illuminating is a screenshot of the proofs he shot – you can see Brian’s process of framing the shot, and the fact that his editor chose the picture they did tells a lot about the nature of journalistic shooting.
